  • Cartoonist: Use this field for a strip with only one creator, for example, Peanuts by Charles Schulz. It needs to be entered in piped form so that it displays the author in citation style, Last, First. Example, [[Charles Schulz|Schulz, Charles]].
    • Writer: On a collaborative strip, use this field to enter the writer's name, again in piped form so that it displays the author in citation style, Last, First. Example, [[Lee Falk |Falk, Lee]]. (This field is ignored if the Cartoonist field is used)
      • Cowriters: When citing a strip which has multiple writers, or when citing a strip's entire run and that run includes multiple writers, use this tag to identify up to two more writers. They should be entered in normal style, First name Last name rather than citation style, for example [[Mark Schultz]], not [[Mark Schultz|Schultz, Mark]]. If more than three writers in total contributed to the work, identify three, one using the writer tag, two using this tag, and follow with the phrase et al, as follows: [[Mark Schultz]], [[Cullen Murphy]] ''et al''.

  • Strip: The title of the strip. Example: Peanuts. This is a required parameter.
  • Paper: Title of the newspaper, magazine, for example The Times. In the case of a webcomic the website where the strip was published, also giving the url, for example [http://www.keenspot.com/ Keenspot].
  • Location: The location of the newspaper or magazine, for example London, UK.
  • Date: January 1, 2006. Full date of publication. This is a required parameter.
  • Supplement: If the strip in question was published in a supplement to the newspaper, the name or nature of the supplement should be given.
  • Syndicate: The syndicator of the comic strip. Use name of company at time of publication. This is a required parameter.
  • Pages: 45: List the page within the newspaper or magazine upon which the strip was published. If pages are not identified, count from first page, ignoring covers, and place the number in square brackets, [].
  • Panel: Panel number, if referencing a specific panel. Panels should be identified by counting left to right, and top to bottom where necessary.
  • ID: Use this field to enter an ISBN if known, in the form ISBN 0198749872.
