Welcome to WikiProject Requested articles a new WikiProject for Wikipedia:Requested articles.

Introduction

WikiProject Requested articles was started in May 2012 after a RFC that sought to determine a course of action for the tens of thousands of redlinked suggestions at requested articles, many of which go back a number of years. While some editors felt that the whole process was unsalvegable, others expressed interest in a dedicated project to target the backlog. Requested articles is one of Wikipedia's oldest processes (dating back to 2001) and offers individuals the ability to suggest articles which should be created but that they do not wish to write themselves. Suggestions cover a huge diversity of topics and are split into a series of lists on multiple pages.

The project is currently in the initial planning stages of a backlog drive, which will hope to start to reduce the backlog of requests as well as develop improvement for the current system.

Support Task Forces that concentrate on specific topics within Requested articles
Track and assess articles formerly listed at Requested articles

How to get involved

WikiProject Requested articles has something for everyone! You don't have to be a fantastic writer or content contributor to help create requested articles but you do need to know Wikipedia's core policies, particularly WP:Notability, WP:Verifiability.

If you have never created an article before please read WP:Your first article and Wikipedia:Writing better articles
Before you create an article from the list make sure that the subject meets notability guidelines (many of the items requested at WP:RA may not be suitable, and all need to be carefully checked)
All articles must be created with reliable sources
If you are an unregistered user submit your article through the Articles for Creation process
Tag the talk page with {{WikiProject Requested articles|class=}}
